New Model 1859 Sharps percussion carbine early type with brass patchbox, buttplate, and barrel band. Tag from consignor says gun was purchased at an estate auction in Hoadly, Virginia in 1961. Gun has round rifled barrel with integral pinned blade front sight and 2 leaf rear flip sight with breech marked "NEW MODEL 1859". Percussion case hardened action with Sharp's and Lawrence Patents with sling bar (missing ring). Walnut plain stocks with no visible cartouches or marks. CONDITION: Metal fading to a brown patina with lead tang screw missing. Brass has been cleaned long ago and has faded to a golden patina. Wood has chunk missing from toe with traces of original finish. Wood has usage marks and dings. Dark bore with good mechanics. DLM
