Large group of artifacts from Appomattox with more specific find locations noted on some subgroups. Lot includes M1861 lockplate, M1861 lock plate with hammer, triggerguard, 2 gun wrenches, buttplate, belt keepers, knapsack hooks, friction primers, 6 eagle buttons, nosecap, trigger guard, bands, engineer dividers, bayonet scabbard tip, heavy brass ferrule with side straps and spring release, unidentified, at least 40 bullets, 4 iron case shot or canister balls, bag miscellaneous shell fragments, bag with sections of a ground-burst Schenkl shell. Plus smaller miscellaneous finds. CONDITION: Excavated. A nice collection from a famous battlefield and the site of Lee's surrender.
