Measures 25 - 7/8" from kissaki to munemachi. While only 1 mekugi is present in the nakago, it is likely that this sword started off life as a Nagamaki as the gomabashi is intruded on very slightly by the munemachi. Kanmuri-otoshi-zukuri form. Suriage nakago with single mekugi as shortened from a nagamaki. Signed in 3 characters "Masa Hide Saku" on left side of nakago. Hamon cannot be seen due to polish but looks like it may be notare. Mounts are World War II with tsuba that has florals at corners, fuchi and kashira with more florals and a roe pattern. Normal World War II floral menuki. Saya is wrapped in a foul weather cover that is of a more recent vintage than balance of sword. CONDITION: Sword has been polished, with some spots of fine pitting visible. Areas of scratches visible throughout the length from the polishing process that obscured the hamon. Mounts are very good, tsuka-ito is tight with some damage to rayskin near mekugiana. An interesting sword. EMW
