Measures 26 - 1/16" from tip of kissaki to munemachi. Iori mune. Classic shinogi zukuri form with a visible midare hamon. hada obscured by polish. Brass catscratch habaki. Nakago with sujikai yasurime, dated 1941 and with a roughly cut signature that appears to read Kanenari with Amahide kokuin at nakagojiri (CF: "An Oshigata Book of Modern Japanese Swordsmiths 1868-1945" by Slough, page 27). Leather strap around fuchi with a snap for affixing blade to saya. Chrysanthemum menuki. Kashira with floral-on-roe pattern. Brown tsuka ito. Saya with leather wrap affixed by 2 Reindeer finish snaps and reinforced drag. Koiguchi now a simple brass strap, ashi looks to be period. CONDITION: Blade is out of polish with a visible hamon line, with clouding and surface scratches. Mounts are very good, tsuka ito has rubbing to high edges and fraying over one menuki. Saya looks to be of newer construction. EMW
