Classic shinogi zukuri blade measuring approximately 26 - 1/8" from kissaki to munemaki (habaki is frozen, preventing a precise measurement). Iori mune. Hamon is a cloudy suguha and probably a result of an oil quench rather than a water quench. No visible hada. Nakago with single drilled mekugi-ana, katte agari yasurime, and ha agari kurijiri. Left side of nakago dated 1945 with a seki stamp, right side signed Katsumasa in 2 characters with seki stamp and painted characters, rear of nakago with what looks like a Nagoya inspection. Late pattern kansuke-maki tsuka-ito. Fuchi and kashira with roe patterns and florals on fuchi. Kojiri, koiguchi and ashi with floral patterns; koijiri with floral at would have been sarute hole. CONDITION: Blade is out of polish with some areas of scratches and oxidation, but with a clear hamon. Mounts are good with some marks from handling and use throughout. Screw to affix tsuka is loose and does not thread into female end. Ashi is look, saya has some marks throughout from handling including some scrapes. This is a nice example of a signed gunto. EMW
