Measures 21 - 1/4" from kissaki to munemachi. Iori mune. Polish obscures the finer aspects of the blade; hamon looks like it might be suguha and hada looks to be mokume near kissaki. Chu kissaki. Suriage nakago with two mekugi-ana, one punched and one drilled, with a signature on left side, untranslated: last two characters look like Arishige. Very slightly slanted yasurime but largely kiri. Kurijiri nakagojiri. 2 piece brass habaki, floral-and-roe pattern tsuba somewhat flatter than normally encounter but with good decoration. Fuchi looks to be civilian with a rolling floral decoration. chrysanthemum menuki, traditional floral-and-roe kashira. No sarute. Saya wrapped in leather with a single ashi. One stud for connecting to a seppa that has a snap to hold the blade closed. CONDITION: Blade is out of polish with areas of clouding and a few minor spots of oxidation. Surface scratches from an amateur polish. Mounts are very good, tsuba is dark but clean. Tsuka-ito is tight. Saya leather is very good with some bumps and scrapes but soft and pliable. A very interesting blade that a good polish may shine some light on. EMW
