US Model 1847 percussion Cavalry Musketoon made by Springfield Armory and dated 1853. 26" round barrel in .69 caliber smoothbore with no rear sight and blade front sight on Wickham style brass front barrel band. Ramrod is retained by swivel retainer. Lock is marked with Springfield Armory eagle ahead of cock with "SPRING" / "FIELD" / "1853" behind cock. Barrel is dated 1853 near breech but "VP" proof is not legible. 1 piece plain walnut stock in 2 brass barrel band configuration complete with Cavalry swivel bar and brass US marked military buttplate. Cartouche is not visible. CONDITION: Very good with heavy pitting throughout. Stock is good as cleaned with light handling marks throughout and chipping near front barrel band on left side and in ramrod channel. Action works appropriately with hammer stopping on both full and half cock. Bore is dark with heavy abrasion throughout. TON
