Frame manufactured 1918. Half moon front sight that has been contoured and hand cut to appear as a serrated slope front sight, square notch flat top rear sight. Left side of slide with 2 line and 2 block patent and address information and intercepting pony. Right side of slide with "MODEL OF 1911. U.S.ARMY". Barrel with "P" on left lug, "COLT 45 AUTO" on lower left of breech. Left side of dust cover with US property mark, and "AA" stamp for Augusta Arsenal rebuild. Narrow checkered hammer, checkered safety, early relief milled slide release, short 1911 safety, short checkered stamped trigger, flat smooth mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Heart shaped lightening cuts; left grip is a Keyes fibre grip, right grip unmarked fibre with "8" mold number. Magazine with "R" on lip for Risdon manufacture. CONDITION: Very good as rebuilt, possibly for World War II use. Thick reparkerization has softened legends somewhat. Heavily packed with cosmoline to protect internals. Minor handling and storage marks throughout, some silvering to high edges. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is very good with strong rifling and some cosmoline. A nice example of the recycling process for World War II war materials. EW
