Measures approximately 24 - 11/16" from tip of kissaki to munemachi; habaki is frozen, preventing a precise measurement. Traditional shinogi zukuri form with yokote gone, probably polished out. Brass habaki with traces of silver plating. Nakago with single mekugi-ana, drilled, with painted characters on left side of blade. Tsuba with florals at corners and pierced through. Fuchi with locking button and standard floral-over-roe pattern, which is repeated on kashira and sarute. Chrysanthemum menuki with a family mon soldered onto right side depicting crossed arrows and a flower. Painted saya with koiguchi, koijiri, semegane, and ashi with floral-and roe pattern. CONDITION: Blade is out of polish with surface scratches throughout from an amateur polish. Some very fine areas of oxidation and clouding. Mounts are good with good definition and some age related darkness and rubs; tsuba ito has loose threads but is very good overall. Saya is good with chipping to paint revealing bare metal underneath. An interesting sword with a mon worthy of more research. EMW
