Standard configuration P.38 manufactured by Mauser during World War II. Pistol is salt blued and is mounted with 2-piece brown bakelite grips. The left side of the slide is marked "P.38 byf/43" followed by the serial number with the right side bearing 2 Mauser eagle over "135" waffenamts. Matching numbers include the frame, slide, barrel, and locking block. Magazine is unnumbered and is marked "P.38" on the left side with a Mauser eagle over "135" waffenamt on the spine. Grip spur has been slightly filed down on either side at some point in time. Complete with a 1943 dated leather softshell holster marked "dlu" indicating manufacture by E. Luneschloss, Solingen, which is mounted with a pinned on metal eagle over swastika insignia and contains an additional P.38 magazine. CONDITION: Metal components retain the majority of their period reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some minor nicks and areas of wear with the exception of the grip strap, which exhibits thinning that shows through to pleasant gray and light brown patinas. Mirror bore with well defined lands and grooves throughout. Brown bakelite grips are en suite, showing few minor marks from handling and use. Leather softshell holster shows wear and crazing all around and bears a tear to the left strap on the rear panel. A nice example of a Mauser P.38 pistol, manufactured during history's greatest conflict. -MLW-
