Built Circa 1926, A well-made boxlock 20 gauge game gun with 27 - 3/8" blued steel barrels. Barrels have been made with ejectors, a concave tapered tapered rib which is cross-filed and fit with a rib extension, small round white mid bead and a larger round front white bead sight. Barrels are nicely engraved with floral scroll at muzzle and near breech. Rib reads "R.G. OWEN, SAUQUOIT. N.Y.". Both barrels read "SPECIAL - GEWEHR - LAUF - STAHL - FRIED. KRUPP, A.G. - ESSEN -" with 3 interlocked rings in middle of wording. Barrel flats are marked "20", "70MM", "Nitro","19", "U", "6/26" and also with appropriate German proof markings. Bottoms of barrels stamped "330.26" and with German Proofs. The scalloped grey and case colored patina action with full coverage fine and tight scroll. Action has been built with side clips, single selective mechanical trigger, auto-safe, and bolt third fastener. Safe slide is checkered and "SAFE" is in gold. Top lever is blued, floral scroll engraved and thumbpiece is checkered on both sides. Barrel selector is alongside the single trigger. Trigger is protected by its full coverage scroll engraved trigger guard which extends through a long bottom strap. The strong and smoky grained European walnut straight hand gripped stock has fine 2-panel checkering, silver oval with initials "DM" engraved and finished by its engraved heel and toe plates, skip line checkered butt. Engraving most likely executed by R. Kornbrath (although unsigned) as the quality on the piece is with his fine touch. Circassian walnut stock is adorned with the signature R.G. Owen arrow heads near grip. The finely checkered splinter forend with Anson styled forend release has full coverage scroll engraved exterior iron metal. CONDITION: Very Good. Barrels retain much of their original blue with some spotting. Action is sound. Trigger is crisp and ejectors operate properly. Stock is good with hairline split behind top strap and some handling marks from use and is missing a bit of wood at toe. Forend is good with some marks from use. Nice Upland Woodcock or Grouse game gun. CP
