Measures 26 - 1/8" from tip of kissaki to munemachi. Iori mune. Classic shinogi-zukuri form with a wide, indistinct suguha hamon, oil quenched. Nakago with 2 mekugi-ana, both punched, one near nakagojiri. Left side dated October 1944, right side with Showa stamp and signed on right side, looks to be Onoki Norinaga (cf: "An Oshigata Book of Modern Japanese Swordsmiths 1868-1945" by Slough, pg. 136, plate A). Typical type 1944 mounts with later kansuke-maki tsuka ito. Chrysantehmum menuki. Late pattern mounts including ridged dustproof/waterproof seppa. Brown painted saya. CONDITION: Blade is out of polish with numerous spots of scratches and clouding but no serious chips or hagire. Yokote nearly gone. Tsuka-ito is loose. Mounts are good but dark from exposure. Saya with numerous scrapes and, chips, and bumps from use but complete. A good beginner level example. EMW
