Classic shinogi zukuri form with a rather shallow sori, measuirng 25" from kissaki to munemachi. Nice suguha temper line with nice nioi. Nakago with katte sagari yasurime and signed in four characters Sukegawa Sukemitsu. 2 mekugi-ana. Mounts are standard World War II gunto mounts with a nicely pierced tsuba with florals at corners and fuchi with locking piece and decorated with florals over a roe pattern. Appropriate painted saya with single hanger. CONDITION: Blade has been improperly polished with the yokote having disappeared and some aspects of the blade obscured, with areas of surface scratches. Some minor pitting, mostly visible on left side. Mounts are good and tight with some darkening of gilt and chipping of paint. Overall a nice example of a World War II Shin Gunto. EMW
