Measures 25 - 15/16" from kissaki to munemachi; no visible hada or hamon. Ubu nakago with single drilled mekugi-ana dated February 1944 on left side, right side with "Daido" signature in 2 characters. Katte sagari yasurime. Left side of the nakago also has a small seki stamp, and a Nagoya inspection mark on spine of nakago. Classic World War II mounts with gilt tsuba; fuchi, kashira, koiguchi, koigiri, ashi, and semegane with floral designs over a roe pattern. Sarute plain with a single hash mark. Chrysanthemum themed menuki with imitation rayskin same and brown tsuka-ito. CONDITION: Blade has been polished with some clouding and spotted darknes. Some areas of scratches visible from polishing. Blade has been sharpened and there is a small hagire crack under the kissaki. Mounts are good with rubbing to high edges to copper base and some age related discoloration but complete; tsuba a recent replacement and of poor casting quality. Tsuka ito with some rubbing to high edges. Saya is good with numerous scrapes and chips to bare metal. This is a good example of a signed late war sword. EMW
