Manufactured in Argentina under license from Colt, who negotiated with the Argentinian government to produce a copy of the 1911 in Argentina on Colt tooling and with Colt employees for the first 10,000 guns, after which Argentinian inspectors and machinists would take over. This example is one of those manufactured and inspected by the Argentinians, with half moon front sight, square notch flat top rear sight, "D.G.F.M. - (F.M.A.P.)" on left side of slide, "(Argentinian Crest) // Ejercito Argentino / SIST. COLT CAL. 11.25mm. MOD. 1927 // 45209" with serial number on frame. Matching numbers observed on barrel hood, slide (2 places), frame, and base of magazine. Grips are the black polymer grips manufactured in Argentina. Magazine with dual pinned base. Small parts comprise checkered spurred hammer, thick tab safety, checkered slide release, short checkered trigger, checkered magazine release, long 1911A1 grip safety, and arched knurled mainspring housing with lanyard loop. CONDITION: Very good, retaining the majority of the factory bluing. Slide with some silvering to high edges consistent with holster wear and scattered marks from handling and use, somewhat heavier on right side; left side has a very small spot of silvering behind the muzzle. Frame is very good with some scattered handling marks, primarily towards dust cover, and a very light takedown mark. Straps with expected browning from hand rubbing. Hammer and slide release bluing both pluming. Stocks are very good, left scale with a crack at bottom that runs through bottom screw. Mechanically fine, bore is very good with strong rifling and some light oxidation towards muzzle. EMW
