Extremely rare Colt Single Action Army Sheriff's Model. Manufactured in 1884. Factory original 3 - 1/2" barrel with 2-line address on top. 3-line patent date on left side on the receiver. Blackpowder frame with 2-piece Colt gutta percha Eagle grips. There are 5 X's carved into the bottom of the left grip. This gun was shipped April 13,1885 to Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co., Chicago, Illinois, in a 2 gun shipment. CONDITION: This gun has shades of original blue in the protected areas with the remainder of the gun turning an even grey-brown patina. There is some etching on the right side of the barrel, front of frame, cylinder, and loading gate where it has sat on a damp cloth at some time. Light scattered pitting across the left side of the gun. Screw heads show some wear from use. Grips are nice with the majority of the wear to the right side grip. Fair bore with some slight frosting in the lands and grooves. It will not hold on the safety notch and there is no half-cock at all. REW
