Winchester Model 1873 lever action rifle. Made 1890. 2 line address and patent date on the top of the barrel. "MODEL 1873" marked on the tang. Octagon barrel with full length magazine tube. Blade front sight with buckhorn style u-notch rear. Rear sight is missing its elevation slider. Sliding dust cover is still present. Metal finish looks to be original turning to a heavy brown patina throughout. Wood stock and forearm have a light oil finish. Crescent metal butt plate. CONDITION: Metal has formed a heavy brown patina in most areas. Wood has handling marks and scratches. Forearm is solid with no visible cracks. Bore is heavily frosted, but retains crisp rifling. Hammer is tight, but action will need adjustment as the elevator likes to stick when the lever is cocked. JWA
