This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/15/2021
Lot consists of: (A) Wood framed medal display with from an unidentified 106th Infantry Division officer. The display consists of an unengraved and unnumbered slot brooch Purple Heart, unengraved Good Conduct Medal, and various campaign and service medals. There is also a Combat Infantry Badge which is marked "sterling" on the reverse. There is a First Lieutenant bar that is marked "AMCO / Sterling" on the reverse, along with two post WWII enlisted collar discs. This soldier most likely started out his career as an enlisted man, was promoted to Lieutenant during the war, and reenlisted and served as an enlisted man in the post-WWII era. CONDITION: The medals are mounted by pins so there are holes in the ribbons. Some of the ribbons are tattered but most remain in good condition. Overall good. (B) Unattributed framed medal display consisting of a Purple Heart, campaign, and service medals. The back of the frame was not removed so it is unknown if the medals are engraved. Purple Heart appears to be a slot brooch medal. CONDITION: All medals are in overall very good condition. (C) Unattributed framed medal display with Silver Star and Purple Heart. The Silver Star is a Bailey, Banks, and Biddle split wrap brooch and is numbered "46497". Approximately 50,000 BB&B Silver Stars were produced with approximately 15,000 issued prior to World War II and the remaining were issued during the war which makes these medals quite scarce. The Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal are both full wrap brooches. The Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Good Conduct Medal are all slot brooches, with the Purple Heart numbered "125738". CONDITION: The medals are all very clean with some exhibiting wear to the ribbons. Overall very good. JLD
