Half moon front sight, square notch rear sight that has been manufactured by opening up a U notch rear sight. Left side of slide with 2 line 2 block patent and address information with rampant Colt at rear; right side with "MODEL OF 1911. U.S. ARMY". "H" stamped at top of firing pin retaining plate channel. Barrel marked "P / H", oriented to read barrel up and a "D" stamped on right lug. Left side of dust cover with "UNITED STATES PROPERTY", left side of frame with JMG proof for Gilbert, right side of frame with serial number. Small parts comprise checkered spurred hammer, short 1911 grip safety, checkered thick tab safety with relief mill cut, slide release with relief mill cut, checkered magazine release, long milled trigger that has been ground down to a shorter length. Smooth flat mainspring housing without lanyard loop. Coltwood scoop lightened grips. Full blue magazine with "S" on lip for Scoville. Additional set of false pearl grips with black plastic backers. CONDITION: Very good, retaining much of the Colt factory bluing with some distension around JMG proof and rampant Colt from application. Slide has some browning starting to come through, primarily visible on left side, right side with less spotting. Frame is very good with straps essentially dove grey and some browning coming through around high edges. Some minor marks from handling and storage throughout, including a minor takedown mark. Silver still visible where modifications performed, such as rear sight notch and trigger. Grips are very good, left grip with an internal crack that appears stable, right with a chip at rear. Grip bushings replaced. Mechanically fine, bore is good with visible rifling and heavy darkness towards chamber. Extra grips are very good. EMW
