South American Remington Rolling Block single shot carbine. Made circa 1870s for Spain, and later sold off when Mauser rifles became available. Rifle most likely made its way to South America. Standard address and patent markings on the tang. "P" marked on the left side of the barrel. "ET" burned into the left side of the forearm. Blade front sight with rear ladder sight. Metal finish looks to be original with most areas having turned a brown patina. Wood has been refinished at some point (possibly arsenal done). CONDITION: Metal retains little of its original finish with a gray patina starting to form in most areas. Some light pitting at the stock line. Rear sight ladder has a slight bend in it. Wood has handling marks, dings and scratches. Bore is frosted, but retains crisp rifling. Mechanically fine. JWA
