Shipped from the Winchester factory June of 1879. Reapplied full bright nickel finish, with full nickel plating identified in provided factory letter. 24" octagon barrel chambered in .44-40 with 2-line Winchester address and full length round magazine tube. Blade front sight and buckhorn rear. Single set trigger and early style 2nd model dust cover with checkered oval thumb rest. Original 2-piece checkered walnut stocks have been replaced by plain ones with nickel plated crescent trap butt plate. A framed 1992 Cody Records Office Winchester factory letter accompanies this rifle. CONDITION: Fair. Nearly all of the reapplied nickel finish is retained with some pits. Stock undersized, having been heavily sanded. Stock split in half and repaired at some point. Forend fine with some light marks and a small loss near front. Poor dark bore. Cycles appropriately. BAS
