Frederick Parry is recorded as working in Birmingham circa 1845-1886 and is also noted to have signed his location as London despite never working there; Goff likely a reference to Samuel Frederick Goff, London, circa 1878-1885 who is known to have marked guns as "S. Goff & Co" circa 1889. This example of characteristic form with six barrels, each numbered, and with British London view and proof marks in the gullets. Light border engraving at muzzle end. Frame, nipple shield, and hammer of classic form and engraved with rays and scroll, accented with hatch shading. Frame further engraved with "F. Parry / Late Goff & Co / London" on left side, "Improved / Revolving Pistol" on right side. Tang mounted sliding safety and trigger with high polish English bluing. Engraving continued on back strap and to trigger guard. Housed in an unmarked walnut case with unmarked brass escutcheon in lid and protected by a simple warded lock. Case contains accessories comprising a threaded multi tool currently fitted with a ramrod style tip, unmarked powder flask, percussion cap tip with paper label reading "PERCUSSION CAPS / WARRANTED" with central "100 / No. 12", bullet mold and sprue cutter marked "No 70" (nominal .405 caliber), a small ivory jar with spare nipple, and case key. CONDITION: Exceptional, and finding pepperboxes with this kind of condition is nearly impossible. Barrel assembly retains virtually all of the case coloring with some fine oxidation at rear of barrels. Frame in commensurate condition with some losses to dove grey at recoil shield and straps. English bluing on tang and trigger excellent with some minor losses commensurate with operation, trigger guard with approximately half of the blue remaining. Grips are excellent with some handling marks but free of cracks or chips. Accessories are in similarly excellent condition, with multitool retaining most of the case colors with losses at high edges. Powder flask is excellent with plenty of fire blue on spring and no seam separation. Cap tin is very good with discolored lacquer, bullet mold with age discoloration, ivory striker pot is excellent with no cracks and nipple is also excellent. Mechanically fine, bore is excellent. Case is fine with some handling marks throughout. This is an absolutely top-quality pepperbox. EMW
