Stevens 44 -1/2 action Model 49 " Walnut Hill" single shot rifle made by the J. Stevens Arms & Tool Company circa post-1904. Blued 30" No. 3 weight half octagon barrel fitted with a Stevens interchangeable globe front sight and non-factory installed adjustable sporting rear sight. Barrel is marked with correct Stevens marking on top flat, desirable caliber "28-30". Stevens 44 -1/2 nickel-plated action fitted with a Stevens windgauge adjustable Vernier tang sight, with nearly full coverage of original Stevens scroll engraving. The original nickel plating appears to have been lightly cleaned. Single trigger pistol grip action with nickel-plated 4-finger loop lever. Checkered walnut pistol grip stock with cheekpiece, fitted with Stevens nickel-plated No. 3 large Swiss buttplate. Matching checkered 2-screw forearm. CONDITION: 90% barrel blue with some fading. 90% nickel with some areas in front of trigger beginning to flake off. Wood has 90% of original varnish with some usage dings and marks.
