Winchester Model 1885 deluxe Schuetzen Highwall single shot rifle made by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1904. Blued 32" custom No. 5 weight round barrel with questionable Winchester barrel markings, no caliber stamping, and possibly sleeved. Barrel is marked with No "5" weight in front of forearm, the action serial number is stamped under the forearm. Barrel is fitted Redfield globe front sight, no rear seat, and Winchester telescope blocks. Original blued flat spring action with Winchester graduated peep tang sight, Schuetzen double set triggers, spur lever with one spur removed. Deluxe walnut stock with Dutch cheekpiece, stock comb shortened to accommodate Winchester tang sight, checkered pistol grip stock with Winchester cap, Helm buttplate. Matching deluxe checkered walnut Winchester forearm with palm rest base, replaced link. Research confirms originally shipped with No. 4 weight 32" octagon barrel. CONDITION: 95% barrel blue with shooting wear. 92% action blue with edges showing a brown patina. The wrist of buttstock has stress crack in checkering. Stock has had a coat of linseed oil added with some scratches and dings. Good bore and mechanics. Description reviewed by Gary Quinlan. DLM/GWQ
