Winchester Model 1885 deluxe flatspring Highwall Schuetzen rifle made by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1907. 29 - 7/16" Winchester No. 3 weight octagon barrel relined and re-rust blued by noted maker C.C. Johnson, Thackery, Ohio, caliber .22-3000. Beech combination front sight, no rear sight seat and fitted with Winchester "A5" telescope. Johnson blued pistol grip action with Schuetzen double set triggers, Winchester case hardened spur lever, Lyman No. 2 tang sight. Winchester deluxe checkered pistol grip stock with cheekpiece and Helm pattern buttplate possibly repaired and re-nickeled by C.C. Johnson. Matching deluxe checkered walnut forearm with ebony inlay. Cody Research confirms this rifle was shipped in 1907 as a Winchester Schuetzen Model. CONDITION: 95% C.C. Johnson re-rust blued barrel and action. Breechblock, hammer, and Winchester spur lever retain most of their original case coloring with edge wear. Winchester stock and forend are in excellent condition showing only minor handling marks, with a coat of linseed oil applied. Excellent, bright bore with only slight signs of use ahead of chamber, good mechanics with clear optics. Consecutive serial number with Lot 1412. Description reviewed by Gary Quinlan. DLM/GWQ
