Winchester Model 1885 color case hardened desirable Thickside Highwall action made by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1896. Blued 29 - 1/2" Winchester No. 4 weight octagon barrel with a unknown maker's globe front sight, blank in rear sight seat, telescope bases and a Winchester "A-5" telescope. The breech end of the barrel has had sharp edges of the barrel flats professionally relieved to permit fitting of this heavy barrel to the action. Case hardened Thickside action with custom Schuetzen double set triggers (possibly by A.O. Bremmer San Franscisco, California) fitted with a period custom spur lever. Deluxe Winchester Laudensack Pattern, checkered pistol grip stock with cheekpiece and Laudensack Model Schuetzen buttplate. Matching condition deluxe checkered forend with Winchester factory-installed tuning fork-style palm rest. Cody Research states this rifle was shipped 1896 with a No. 1 weight 28" octagon barrel in caliber .32 WCF with plain trigger. CONDITION: 95% original barrel blue. The action retains 95% original vivid case coloring, fitted with a custom case colored double set trigger lower tang. 92% original stock varnish with some light usage marks and dings. Bright bore with noticeable roughness ahead of the chamber, excellent mechanics, Winchester "a-5" telescope in need of lens cleaning. Description reviewed by Gary Quinlan DLM/GWQ
