Winchester Model 1885 flat spring straight grip action, nicely re-case colored by unknown gunsmith. Original Winchester No. 3 weight 30" octagon barrel professionally re-rust blued and re-bored to .45 3 - 1/4 S.S. and fitted with a Marbles sporting blade sight with copper bead and a Marbles folding Buckhorn type rear sight. The barrel has been worked on by noted maker C.C. Johnson and is stamped with his 5-digit work number and caliber, "R-2", now rebored to 45 caliber. The action has vivid non-original case colors with single trigger and standard lever. Standard grade Winchester walnut stock, fitted with a case colored rifle buttplate, matching Winchester standard grade walnut forearm with ebony inlay. Rifle appears to be a custom Highwall made out of recycled parts and totally refurbished by unknown gunsmith. CONDITION: 98% overall condition from total refurbishment. Gun has near perfect bore and mechanics. Would make a great hunting or blackpowder silhouette rifle. Description reviewed by Gary Quinlan. DLM/GWQ
