Colt New Service double action revolver. Made 1940. Top of the barrel marked with the later patent address. Left side of the barrel is marked "NEW SERVICE 45 COLT". Left side of the frame is marked with a rampant Colt pony. "VP" proof on the top left of the trigger guard. Matching serials on the frame and crane. Round, steel barrel with blade front sight. Factory blued finish on the metal components. Checkered trigger face and hammer. Lanyard ring still attached to the butt. Factory hard rubber grips. CONDITION: Metal retains 85% of its factory blued finish with some wear and scattered handling marks. Grips have some discoloration and wear. There is a small chip out of the bottom left panel. Bore is clean with crisp rifling. Tight hammer and cylinder. Great lockup and timing. Light drag lines on the cylinder. Mechanically fine. JWA
