Winchester Model 1885 Special Order Highwall single shot rifle made by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1903. Scarce special order 32" No. 5 weight part octagon barrel caliber, .32-40. Winchester mid-range Vernier tang sight, Winchester interchangeable globe front sight with blank in rear sight seat. Highwall flat spring pistol grip action with Schuetzen double set triggers with a case hardened spur lever. Deluxe figured American walnut pistol grip stock special ordered with a Helm buttplate. Matching fancy grained walnut forearm with ebony inlay and 2 professionally filled holes possibly for a Pope palm rest. Cody Research verifies all special order features as exhibited on this very fine Highwall. CONDITION: 95% original barrel blue with some edge wear, 90% action blue with light handling and use marks with edges turning a silvery brown patina. Lever has faded to a silvery gray. The rear portion of bore shows noticeable roughness due to blackpowder use. Mechanically excellent and a scarce rifle. Description reviewed by Gary Quinlan. DLM/GWQ
