Pre-WW2 USMC China service photo album. ID'd to Cpl. Stuart B. Kissane, Marine Detachment, American Legation, Peiping, China. Album contains approximately 273 pieces, with most being photos, and the remainder being 2 promotion warrants to the NCO rank of Corporal. Highlights of the album include: 8" x 10" of Marines relaxing outside the NCO club in a mixture of dress, service and civilian attire drinking Peking made pilsner. Large format images of Marines on parade, China Marine band with painted drum, Marine detachment aboard USS Argonne with unit guidon, various Marine athletic teams photos with EGA emblazoned on jerseys, and Marines using a tractor to pull a 75mm pack howitzer. Medium and smaller sized images include leadership and unit images that include officers and enlisted, their weapons (BAR's, rifles, Colt 1911's, etc.), China Marines wearing fur hats, artillery pieces, and various scenes of liberty visits and Chinese architecture. A historic album and great uniform and equipment study worthy of further research. CONDITION: Album has separating spine and has moderate wear mostly to the covers. Some photos loose from corner mounts, but fortunately none glued down and they can be re-positioned easily. BRM.
