Sharp's Model 1874 single shot rifle percussion conversion possibly done by E.C. Meacham of St. Louis, Missouri circa the 1880's. Blued barrel with Bridgeport address and "OLD RELIABLE" stampings, measuring 29" long and 1 - 1/4" across muzzle. Barrel has blade front sight and Buckhorn rear sight. Barrel is stamped at breech "45 calibre 2 - 7/8" with underside having serial number "98785" and what looks like an eagle with the initials "W.C.D." for W.C. Davenport, who some collectors associate as a barrel maker associated with Meacham conversions. Case hardened percussion action with lock marked "C.SHARPS PAT OCT 5TH 1852" with an "H" stamped behind last lock screw with unmarked left side. Gun has added set of unknown manufacture double set triggers with tang stamped serial number 98785. Walnut plain stock with steel buttplate. Walnut 2-screw splinter forearm with lip. CONDITION: Metal parts worn to a well-used silvery patina with wood showing traces of original finish and slight crack behind lock plate. Shootable bore with sticky mechanics. An interesting rifle in need of more research. DLM
