Sharps Model 1874 single shot rifle made by the Sharps Rifle Company, Bridgeport, Connecticut circa 1880's. Blued 30" octagon barrel that measures 1" across barrel flats. Barrel has sheared copper blade sight (possible replacement) with "RS LAWRENCE" marked rear graduated flip sight and Rocky Mountain notched rear sight. Barrel marked with Bridgeport address, "OLD RELIABLE", and "CALIBRE 45" at breech on top barrel flat. Underside of barrel is marked with gun's serial number of 159791. Single trigger converted percussion case hardened action with no lock markings, serial number 159791 stamped across tang and Sharps 1859 Patent on left side of receiver. Walnut plain buttstock with Sharps checkered steel widow's peak buttplate. Walnut 2-screw splinter forearm. CONDITION: Metal has turned an overall brown patina with some areas of surface corrosion. Wood has oil-soaked appearance with usage dings and marks. Good bore with good mechanics. A nice period Sharps rifle. DLM
