German vertical block breech loading Zimmerstutzen parlor gun in 4mm (likely to be kurz). Barrel is only marked by etching "305016704", which may be the serial number. No import marks. Octagonal blued barrel has early front sight (post is missing and appears to be broken off) and is adjustable for windage (adjustment screw missing). Most of the barrel is a false muzzle loading size, and only about 6" of the barrel for the 4mm cartridge is at the breech. Original diopter sight with adjustable aperture disc is mounted on the rear tang and is fully adjustable. Receiver, trigger guard, floor plate assembly, have case hardening, and light engraving. Receiver engraving is nicely done and presents a marksman as well as "Schuetzenliesel" (the "range lady", who well-known in Schuetzen style matches). High quality walnut stock and forearm have some checkering. Butt plate is of the standard Schuetzen style. Sling's swivel is mounted on the stock but the one for the barrel is missing. CONDITION: Rifle is overall excellent and retains 90-95% of its original blued finish and approximately 85% of its case hardening. Barrel exhibits scattered very light freckling. Wood has very little noticeable wear/damage. Front sight post is not present. Bore is bright, set triggers function properly, and rifle is mechanically sound. WEZ
