Winchester Pre-War Model 70 Standard rifle in desirable .22 Hornet caliber made by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1941. Blued Winchester Proof Steel barrel with hooded front ramp sight and 22G adjustable rear which has been replaced by a former owner with a plug. Correct matted finish action with factory-installed Lyman 48 peep sight. Action has correct 2 holes in front bridge and cartridge slot rear bridge with no holes. Blued solid handle bolt with early style 3 position safety with serial number "33464" electropencilled on bolt body, matching rifle serial number. Walnut pistol grip low comb stock with early style checkering and blued steel checkered Widow's Peak buttplate. Comes with original shipping box with blue lettering label with correct matching numbers and configuration markings. CONDITION: 95% plus original barrel blue with light edge wear and mark where rear sight was. 95% original action finish with bolt handle retaining 95% of its blue. 95% original floorplate blue with edge wear. Wood has added coat of linseed oil with some handling marks and toe area is discolored possibly from sun exposure. Buttplate appears to be a replacement with 100% finish remaining. Box has edge wear with label having partial tear. Box has water stains and appears to be of the period. Box missing shipping literature and hanging tags. Great bore and mechanics. Hard to find rifle with condition which appears to have been fired very little. DLM
