Pre-war German Vierling 4-barreled combination gun made by Imman Meffert, Suhl, Germany and sold by Carl Guntermann, Dusseldorf, Germany with gun proofed in "10/36". Blued Krupp Laufstahl barrels with 2 side by side shotgun barrels with 8x57JR rifle underneath and .22 Hornet barrel on top. Barrels are Nitro proofed with raised matted rib with ramped blade front sight and raised 2-leaf flip rifle sights with German-style claw scope mounts. Rib is marked "CARL GUNTERMANN DUSSELDORF" with right barrel marked "IMMAN MEFFERT" with extractor and engraved breeches. Dural chisel game scene and oak leaf full coverage engraved scalloped boxlock frame, marked on bottom of frame "Dural", an aluminum-alloy metal used for gun frames, "Hubertus Suhl" (patron saint of hunters and metalworkers and trademark of the Mefferts), Kersten style crossbolt, Greener style safety, tang barrel selector, double triggers (both set), and horn trigger guard. European walnut scale and floral pattern carved pistol grip stock with horn grip cap and buttplate. Walnut scale and floral carved splinter forearm with latch release. A highly ornate Vierling. CONDITION: 95% barrel blue with light handling marks. Bright Dural finish with blackened background action finish. Sharp carving with stock lightly cleaned with buttplate having insect damage. Excellent bores and mechanics. DLM
