Scarce and desirable 1914 vintage Colt Single Action Army revolver, serial number 331199 with factory fitted Model 1878 DA long-fluted cylinder. These special Long Flute single actions were only produced for a 2 - 1/2 year period, beginning in 1913 and ending in 1915 for a total production of only 1,478 revolvers. This example has a 5 - 1/2" barrel and is chambered in .45 LC. High polish blue with case hardened frame and hammer. 2-piece checkered black hard rubber grips with Rampant Colt motif. 2-line patent dates with Rampant Colt in a circle motif on left side of the frame. Accompanying the revolver is a Colt Archival Letter dated January 27, 2003, signed by Kathleen J. Hoyt, Historian. Letter documents configuration and furnished with a double action cylinder of long flute configuration. Sold to White Brothers and shipped to Hackett-Gates-Huntry Co. St. Paul Minnesota on December 14, 1914 in a single gun shipment. CONDITION: Excellent plus, with approximately 95-98% bright original high polished blue remaining. Only discernable blue loss being a few light radial scratches on the cylinder. Majority of slightly fading original case color remaining on the frame and hammer. Bore is bright and clean. Action is tight and crisp. Grips are excellent plus, showing minimum wear. Overall a strikingly handsome, high condition pre-war Colt in a desirable configuration. MKS
