Colt 1911 semi-automatic pistol. Made 1918. This gun has a checkered mainspring and a later production parkerized slide. United States property marks have been removed from the frame. Standard 2-line patent dates, rampant Colt Pony, and address on the left side of the slide. "(Eagle head)/S8" stamped on the left side of the frame above the magazine release. "P" marked on the top of the slide, and on the left lug of the barrel. Standard blade front sight and U-notch rear. Frame has its original finish wearing to a brown patina in most areas. Slides parkerized finish looks to be reapplied. Grips are later production checkered brown plastic. Little contract blued steel magazine marked "L" on the lip and "C-L" on the bottom. CONDITION: Metal retains 60% of its finish with most areas turning a brown patina. Slide has more finish, rating at 90%. Grips are excellent. Bore is clean with crisp rifling. Mechanically fine. Magazine has light wear. JWA
