Frame manufactured 1918. Tall Ace front sight, Stevens adjustable rear sight. Marked on left side of slide "CONVERSION / UNIT" "COLT" "AUTOMATIC / CAL. .22 L.R." "(Rampant Colt)".Right side with "COLTS MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.". Later floating chamber barrel designed to amplify the recoil of .22 LR to more accurately replicate .45 ACP recoil. Top of frame marked with subinspector marks. Left side of dust cover marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY", left side of frame with "(EAGLE) / SI6" proof. Right side of frame with serial number. Small parts comprise checkered spurred hammer, thick tab safety, checkered magazine release, long milled trigger, short 1911 grip safety, smooth flat mainspring housing, serrated slide release. Truncated diamond walnut grips. Full blue Ace magazine with loading assist that pulls straight down. CONDITION: Good. Metal has been enhanced with cold blue in several spots, mixing with brown patina and areas of pitting throughout frame. Slide is very good with a minimum of marks from handling and use. Frame markings are legible but somewhat softened by rehabilitation; slide markings are crisp. Magazine release is cracked on right side and needs replacement. Gun is suffering from hammer follow and needs professional attention before use. Bore is excellent with strong rifling. EMW
