Rock Island Arsenal Springfield Model 1903 bolt action rifle. Made circa 1920 and later rebarreled for use in World War II by High Standard, as the barrel is marked "HS / (Flaming bomb) / 11-44". Bolt and bolt parts are marked "R" for Remington, in addition to being electro pencil matched. Stock has a faint rebuild cartouche on the left side. Circled "P" firing proof on the wrist. Faint rack number on the right side of the buttstock. Standard blade front sight and rear sight adjustable to 2,700 yards. Metal components have remnants of a parkerized finish. Finger groove straight grip wood stock has an arsenal applied oil finish. Smooth metal butt plate with trapdoor. CONDITION: Metal retains little of its original finish with most areas forming a brown patina. Stock has handling marks, dings and scratches. 4 groove bore is clean with strong rifling. Mechanically fine. JWA
