Remington New Model revolving percussion rifle in .44 caliber built by E. Remington & Sons, Ilion, New York between 1866-1879 with less than 1,000 built. Blued 28" rifled octagon barrel with blade front sight, rear flip adjustable sight, and barrel marked with correct Remington markings and patents with "NEW MODEL" marked underneath. Matching barrel, blued frame, and stock with number "566" stamped on those parts. Rifle has unmarked 5-shot cartridge conversion cylinder and could be a non-factory period conversion to .44 RF. Iron scroll trigger guard and crescent buttplate. Walnut plain matching buttstock. Interesting rifle seldom seen. CONDITION: Metal has worn to a plum patina with some light surface corrosion. Wood has 90% fading original varnish with usage dings and marks. Pitted dark bore with some visible rifling with good crisp mechanics. DLM
