Winchester Model 1885 Highwall made by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1903. 30" blued No.3 weight octagon barrel in 32-40 caliber with replacement bead blade dovetail front sight, no rear seat, fitted with Lyman style scope blocks with Winchester proof mark ahead of rear block and Winchester Address and caliber marking on left barrel flat. Extra plugged scope hole behind rear sight and hole appearing to have been welded shut 1/2" ahead of plugged hole. Blued flat spring proofmarked pistol grip action with case hardened spur lever and Schuetzen double set triggers, fitted with Winchester rear mid range tang sight. Checkered deluxe pistol grip Schuetzen stock with cheekpiece and nickel plated "Helm" buttplate. Non-matching walnut plain forend with ebony inlay and aftermarket palm rest. Cody Research states rifle has a No.3 weight 30" barrel in 32-40 caliber with wind gage front sight and Winchester Mid Range tang sight, Scheutzen set triggers, Spur lever and Helm buttplate. Research does not confirm pistol grip stock, scope blocks or palm rest. Research does state this rifle was returned for repair in 1904. CONDITION: 95% original blue with wear on corners and some slight splotchy discoloration. 95% bright original action blue with handling wear on tang and lever. Wood possibly could be replacement with 90% remaining finish. Excellent shootable bore and crisp mechanics. DLM
