Beautifully engraved custom Colt 1911A1 semi-automatic pistol originally made in 1941 by Colt Firearms. Gun has half moon front sight with U notch rear sight with flat top, left side of slide with 2 line 2 block address and patent information with intercepting pony. Right side of frame with "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" and serial number behind slide stop, "M1911A1 U.S ARMY" in front of slide stop. Robert Sears inspector proof on left side of frame. Barrel with "COLT 45 AUTO" on lower left side of breech, "P" on left side of lug, "G" in front of lug. Small parts have been gold washed (recoil spring guide only has tip washed). Top of frame has partially visible "RS" inspection and "G". Custom mother of pearl grips with central Colt pony and forest scenes. Checkered slide release, safety, long 1911A1 grip safety, short magazine release, arched knurled mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Full blued magazine with "R" on lip for Risdon manufacture. Gun has been engraved in near full coverage with flowing scroll on a punch dot background with lined borders around markings. Under grip on left side of frame, just beneath top bushing, is "Engraving by / j.a. klampfer 1965". CONDITION: Excellent as custom engraved and subsequently blued. Retains virtually all of the blue with some marks and a few minor spots of oxidation towards rear, at top of firing pin retaining plate channel and hammer. Good bore with strong rifling and some frosting in grooves. Engraving is well cut and crisp. Grips are very good with excellent fire and one chip at top of left scale. Good mechanics. DLM
