Crocodile and lion fighting. Green, gold, and blue glazes. Modeled after a Pierre Jules Mene sculpture executed in 1843. Great example of Amphora’s range of production. Amphora Oval Mark, Austria Oval, impressed "4449", "26". Illustrated in "Monsters and Maidens: Collector's Edition", Vreeland, p. 313.
