Circa 1895. A vintage 12 bore side by side with dovetailed Damascus steel nitro proofed 30" barrels. Barrels a fit with 2 - 1/2" chambers, ejectors, smooth concave tapered game rib with lock up extension. Rib reads "PATENT WEDGE FAST" (in oval). "W.W. GREENER . HAYMARKET LONDON & ST. MARYS SQUARE, BIRMINGHAM, WINNER AT THE LONDON GUN TRIALS . 1875,1877,1878 & 1879". "1". Bottoms of barrels stamped with proof mark, elephants and with guns serial number "41882". Barrel flats marked with Birmingham proofs, "12","2 1/2", "1 1/8 oz". The once case colored and now silver grey patina boxlock action is furnished with W.W. Greener checkered side safe, Greener cross bolt, blacked checkered top lever and bladed double triggers. The action is engraved with fine scrolls and with "W.W. GREENER" at base. Fences engraved with a larger leaf pattern. Blacked action bottom with scroll engraving. Blacked scroll engraved trigger guard extends to a long blacked engraved bottom strap. The dark reddish brown English walnut stock has been designated with a strong diamond point checkered English straight hand grip, vacant silver oval and finished by a 1/2" black leather covered pad. The guns narrow splinter forend with matched checkering is fit with a horn tip and a Deeley latch release which has light scroll engraving. Exterior iron metal with light scroll and interior with worn case colors and with guns serial number "41882" and reads "ENGLAND". CONDITION: Very good. Barrels with bright bores, with traces of exterior brown remaining and indications of use. Action, ejectors, and triggers are sound. Stock with handling marks. Forend with evidence of repair near iron metal and with handling marks. Very good gun for its vintage. CP
