Second Generation Colt Single Action Army manufactured by Colt in 1959. The left side of the barrel is stamped "COLT SINGLE ACTIOON ARMY .45", with Colt's single line address across the top. Left side of frame bears patent information followed by the Rampant Colt logo. Features include a blued 5 - 1/2" barrel, blued trigger guard & grip straps, case colored frame, standard Single Action Army pattern front and rear sights, as well as 2-piece Colt checkered black plastic grips. Matching numbers are present on the frame, cylinder, and grip straps, with the grips matching via a hand-scribed number on their interiors. Matching assembly numbers are visible on the rear of the frame and loading gate. CONDITION: Metal components retain virtually all of their original factory applied finishes, exhibiting few minor superficial markings overall. Frame retains strong case coloring all around, with some freckling and light surface oxidation present on the top strap. Cylinder bears no dragline. Mirror bore, exhibiting well defined lands and grooves throughout. Grips are excellent. An exceptional example of an early production Second Generation Colt Single Action Army that would be a difficult example for the discerning collector to upgrade from. MLW
