Third Generation Single Action Army revolver manufactured by Colt in 1983. The left side of the barrel is stamped "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .45", with Colt's single line address across the top. Left side of frame bears patent information followed by the Rampant Colt logo. Features include a blued 4 - 3/4" barrel, case colored frame, blued unfluted cylinder, blued trigger guard & backstrap, as well as 2-piece Colt checkered plastic grips. According to "The Post-War Colt Single-Action Revolver 1955-1975" by Don Wilkerson, it is estimated that only 113 to 125 of the 9,951 Model P1840 revolvers were fitted with unfluted cylinders. Matching numbers are present on frame, cylinder, as well as the grip straps. Grips are matching via a hand-scribed number on the interior of the panels. Revolver is accompanied by its original matching factory box that contains its styrofoam insert, manuals, and hangtag. CONDITION: Excellent, with metal components retain virtually all of their original factory applied finish, exhibiting only some wear on the base pin from disassembly. Frame exhibits vibrant case colors overall, with a concentrated area with a few scratches present on the left side. Mirror bore, exhibiting well defined lands and grooves throughout. Grips are excellent. Colt factory cardboard box shows some scattered handling marks as well as some corner wear, but is otherwise sturdy and serviceable. A very high condition example of a rare unfluted Third Generation Colt Single Action Army revolver. MLW
