29 - 1/8" Damascus twist barrels with bead front sight on slightly raised solid concave rib, marked over the breech but now illegible. Underside of barrels with Birmingham view and proof marks. Platinum blowout vents. Brass tipped ramrod, probably the original, retained by a pair of ferrules and feeding into a reinforced mouth decorated with scroll engraving. Single barrel wedge feeds through an escutcheon. Back action percussion locks are marked "Wm & Jn RIGBY" and decorated with scroll throughout. Fishform hammers are decorated with scroll en suite. Trigger guard with finial decorated with scroll en suite, heavily worn at tang. Checkered wrist with smooth buttplate. CONDITION: Barrels, may not be Rigby barrels, but are essentially a smooth chocolate patina throughout with some spotted oxidation; rib is essentially dove grey. Traces of twist still visible. Locks are very good with strong engraving, hammer recoil shields are damaged on both hammers. Wood is very good, heavily smoothened from a lifetime of use, with some handling marks and chipping. Trigger guard is heavily softened and may be a replacement as engraving is not en suite with balance of gun. Buttplate with medium oxidation throughout. Mechanically fine, bores are very good with a minimum of oxidation. EMW
