Springfield 1873 Trapdoor Cadet single shot rifle in .45-70. Made 1888. Breech block is marked "U.S./MODEL/1873". Chamber is marked with a "V/P/(eagles head)". Rear sight has an "R" at the top, near the elevation knob. Lock has its typical markings. Rack number, "627" marked on the comb. "U.S." marked on the butt plate. Blade front sight with typical Buffington rear sight. Original blued finish wearing to a gray patina in areas. Stock has an oil finish. CONDITION: Metal retains 50% of its original finish with most areas forming a gray patina. Stock has minor handling marks and scratches. Bore is very clean with crisp rifling retained. Mechanically fine. JWA
