(A + B) Manufactured by Colt in commemoration of Ulysses S. Grant and Robert E. Lee. Left barrel flat of (A) is stamped "ULYSSES S. GRANT COMMEMORATIVE - NINETTEN SEVENTY ONE" with (B) being stamped "ROBERT E. LEE COMMEMORATIVE - NINETEEN SEVENTY ONE", with the Colt single line address across the top of the barrels. Only 250 for these match sets were made. Revolvers feature blued barrel & cylinders, case colored frames, hammers, and loading levers, with nickel plated trigger guards and grip straps. Cylinders are engraved with a naval scene as well as "Engaged 16 May 1843" and "Engraved by W.L. Ormsby, New York". Revolvers are present in a Colt "MATCHED PAIR" marked wood display case, featuring a velvet lined interior and containing a bullet mold, powder flask, disassembly tool, firing cap containers, and the case key. CONDITION: Excellent, with metal components retaining virtually all of their original factory applied finish overall. Frames retain vibrant case coloring, showing some small areas of losses as well as some very light spots of oxidation on gun (B). Mirror bores, exhibiting well defined lands and grooves throughout. Grips show few minor marks from handling and storage overall. Case shows some light external wear, with the top right compartment of the case having broken off on one side at one point. A attractive matched pair of commemorative Colt revolvers. MLW
