Winchester Deluxe Model 1886 lever action rifle made by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1898. Winchester blued octagon barrel with blade front sight and Winchester 22 rear adjustable sight. Barrel is marked with Winchester address and caliber "40-82 W.C.F." at breech. Gun is also stamped across barrel flat in front of sight "BROWNING BROS. CO. OGDEN, U.". Some collectors say these stamped rifles were payment for the design of the 1886 from Winchester, others say these were just rifles that were either repaired by Browning or sold by Browning and records are inconclusive on both. Gun has case colored action with blued loading gate and standard trigger. Checkered fancy grained walnut pistol grip stock with case hardened crescent buttplate and Winchester logo grip cap. Checkered fancy grained walnut forearm with case hardened nosecap. Cody Research lists this rifle as a rifle in .40-82 with octagon barrel with plain trigger. CONDITION: 90% fading blue with edge wear and some handling marks. 90% fading vivid case colors with some discoloration marks. Buttstock retains 90% of original finish with some handling marks and dings. Forearm looks to have been cleaned and checkering recut with forend cap fading to a silvery patina. Excellent bore and mechanics. DLM

CORRECTION: Upon further inspection, the inside of the tang on this gun is marked "134XX" while the stock channel is marked "998".
